Does it really get recycled or is it sent to a third world country and dumped?

Whatever happened to returnable/refillable bottles? Use ’em over and over along with the heavy cardboard cases.

Back as recently as the 1960’s, we used to take the Rx bottle back to the pharmacy (known as drug store then) and they just refilled it using the existing container and label. They didn’t even call the Dr. Ah, those were the days…

Glass is the ultimate recyclable. It can be crushed, remelted and reformed into usable product. And, glass is surprisingly durable. Our everyday household glass is US made (WVa) from the 1950’s.We also still use soda glass stemware from the 1870’s. I’d pass up a piece of plastic for glass any day.Our local recycler doesn’t accept prescription bottles. They “don’t want to risk drug contamination.”

To recycle pill containers, I think it important to remove your personal information from the container. That can be pretty tedious.

Wow! Someone else that calls a soda pop; I love it. Are we old or what? Guess you’d have to cut me in half and count the rings to be sure just how old I am.Keep a pickin’ and a grinnin’, Sarge.

Just yesterday there was a story on the news saying that the recycle yards discard Rx bottles. That kind of plastic, they said, is not actually recyclable. The same for fast food soda cups, etc. What a waste.
