That explains the bulge in the roof of the plane. It will fit if you shove it all in with a battering ram.

Saw a woman’s 2 liter diet coke explode in an overhead once. She had opened it, taken one sip, then put it in her carry on. Then we hit turbulence. The cabin crew wanted to throw her out the door. The two people under the overhead (the owner of the coke was sitting on the opposite side of the aisle) had a much different fate in mind. Fortunately TSA has saved us from events like this one now. Who wudda guessed overheads could leak.

I have heard a rumor that some air lines are thinking about removing the overheard bins. I think it may be a TSA thing or something.
