There's a secret agency. It's so secret we don't admit it exists. It has secret spy programs. (Says "already read" but I never saw it. Weird) It submits its schemes to a secret court. The secret court listens to the prosecuter. The defendant isn't invited. Surprise! The secret court always says yes to the secret agency. Even the secret court's rulings are secret. The secret agency tells a few special congressmen what it does. Well, some of what it does. The special congressman have to keep what they find out the secret. So don't worry! (Barack Obama: Everything we do is... Legalish.

Of course there are things our government does that they can’t publicize to the world in order to insure our safety. But, that’s why you must have a Prez who is honest and trustworthy….

You’re preachin’ to the choir, Ted, tho it’s an empty loft…we both know this kind of fuckery has been going on for a long, long time. Even if it wasn’t Shakespeare who said it, we gotta kill all the goddam lawyers.

And yet even George W Bush refused this much accountability. Like it or not, Obama is at least a step BACK to legal operations.

The democrats have been doing better in the polls since 2008, I personally would thank the annexation of bush era policies, and the fact that to counteract a democrat move to the right, that the republicans upped the anti in terms of attacks
( The republicans didn’t move much, just simply got more vitriolic over gaps between parties that grew smaller, hence the irony that as parties move closer and closer politics becomes more polarized)
Now one might hope that one party or the other decides to try and run on civil liberties beyond how many dollars you have in your pocket, however civil liberties tend to not be as feelgood, tangible or easily spinable as the economy which can be portrayed in any light one wishes and where you can simply state you want a better economy
