The Germans have an understandable fear of anyone too far to the right.

Had a Yashicamat 2 1/4, ah, so much for actual film. With the focus on “electronic monitoring”, got freaked when the talked about the “number one” PHONE, that follows your eye movements and if you look away from watching a VIDEO on your PHONE, it pauses the video you’re watching. Okay, let’s talk again about the “big brother” aspect of that, and that every TV show seems dedicated to pointing out agencies and companies can track your every movement, and the TV scriptwriters and viewers all think that is a GOOD THING!

Okay again, if that is the case, why the freakout if the Obama administration uses the “Patriot Act”? I do agree with my Senator, Wyden, that if there isn’t probable cause to monitor a person, with a warrant, then the massive amount of data shouldn’t be accumulating.

And to think that little micro-sized “spy cameras” were the ultimate technology, with microfilm, and Herr Schmidt probably had one of those too.

Having lived in Germany for two years, I discovered that they are far more conservative than the US lefties think they are.

Maybe. Too soon for Hasselblad, probably.

I always liked the old Speed Graphics/Graphlexes myself.

Had a Rollei 16mm for a while. Nifty bit of hardware!

SABRSteve: Not even Merkel. The present government is expanding photovoltaic generation and cutting back coal and nuclear. The previous Socialist/Green coalition was far more progressive than Democrats here, and they are still the official opposition. Have you been spending too much time in beer halls run by former Hitlerjungend?

Hmm, changed the ’toon, but not the comments, again. As to Bernake, interesting that he announces they will be ending the giveaways (free stuff) to the bankers, and the market takes a dive.

For those of you who haven’t seen the commercials, the guy who started and represents Men’s Wearhouse is no longer with them. George Zimmer was fired. Bernanke looks a little like him, hence the cartoon.
