When I grew up, my parents had an orange full-size van, in the 70’s when there weren’t a bunch of SUV’s blocking the view of the parking lot. We were not in the habit of remembering where we parked, because you could see that van from anywhere in the parking lot.
When we got a car, we lost it the first few times we parked it in a large lot.

When parking on campus, I note the level and letter in my phone, for example parked in 3C. Of course I didn’t start doing that until I “lost” my car.
