Stories like this make Republicans very happy. The next elections are of coming up and with no ideas offered for jobs, healthcare, education, et al, this enables them to take the high ground in defending the American people from waste and abuse, while at the same time wasting the time and money of americans and abusing the electoral process by focusing on donations instead of legislation. The Verizon story will be in the cartoons this afternoon and tomorrow, and that’s just one more example of abuse and mismanagement of powers gained by the Bush administration but apparently cherished and encouraged by the current President. Very disappointing to one who once had ‘hope’.Our society becomes less civil, less ethical, and more greedy by the month. Our founders thought we could become a democracy because, despite problems and disagreements, people were civil to each other. We were a civil society. Now we are mean spirited, sneaky, and ends justify means, which I suppose is why our legislators and administration personnel are so mean… they feel justified, but there is no justice in this conduct.Respectfully,C.

It’s a good thing attendance at expensive, wasteful conferences never happens in the private sector. Or in the Defense Department.

-They should have gotten smart and gone duck hunting with Cheney and Scalia.

Ah, the most vilified agency in the government. Of course, without them doing there job, gee, no Army, Navy, or military, no flood protection, weather service, highways, or thousands of other “services” taxpayers don’t want to be reminded that they use, because we pay taxes.

Over the years, attended a lot of conferences and trainings around the country, put on by both government and “corporate” entities. Considering the “stupidity” everyone is condemning was contracted from PRIVATE ENTERPRISE, a little review of who profits from taxpayers dollars (hmm, like Lockheed Martin, Exxon Mobil, GE) within the “private sector” from TAX money might be in order.
