Not in Australia, it’s not. Or in England. Grilling is cooking under a heat source, usually gas or electricity. BBQing is cooking over a fire on a barbecue. And a “grilled” cheese sandwich is actually a fried cheese sandwich if it is cooked in a frying pan. It is grilled if it is cooked under a grill.
