Interesting that the guy in charge of the IRS and this debacle was a Bush appointee.

Who gives a rat’s behind which President appointed him. He didn’t manage his department and allowed it to act illegally.

Obama keeps saying I’m in charge but he never actually manages his departments.

The IRS needs to be brought into accountability. Tax law could be made that was fair and transparent but that isn’t what the IRS has created.

If there is any justice – The Montana couple will ask her to PROVE she DIDN’t commit a crime. That’s how the IRS operates.

Using government to push a political agenda? Sounds very Bushian to me. Surprise! Obummer does it too. Yawn.

    “fraud” however … nope.

The cartoon reminds me of a Life Magazine picture from the 50’s. I saw it in collection of pics years later, but it showed regular people, just citizens, sitting on hardwood chairs in the hallways of the capital building. They were there to see their legislators and had every expectation they would indeed see the person who represented them. We no longer have that level of access, nor do those for whom we vote or whose wages come from our tax dollars feel obligated to speak to us thoughtfully and ethically. The IRS story is still unfolding. Someone gave orders to look for specific word while investigating applicants and someone gave orders to ask inappropriate questions.Like all of us here, I am waiting to find out that name, unlike some of us here, I am not ready to blame anyone yet, past or present. Someone overstepped and deserves to be punished for overstepping. I want to be confident they punish the right person.Respectfully,C.

“Why are some people so obsessed with Bush? That was years & years ago.”

Obsession is in the mind of the beholder. Certainly, in this instance, who appointed whom matters not at all.

I can only speak for myself, but when I note something that Mr. Bush failed at, it is the truth. It is history. I don’t care that it happened years and years ago: it happened. The thousands of families who have lost service members because of the idiotic concept that you can make a person like you better if you take over his country and shoot his countrymen is fact, and those families would not appreciate your concern that it’s “ancient history”.

The other issue that I pose, and no one answers, is why no one seemed to have a problem when equally heinous abuses of government were performed while others were occupying the White House. For me, it’s not, “Well, your guy did it too.” It is more like, “Why was it okay 8 years ago, but suddenly it’s not acceptable now?”

We are all guilty of hoping we can overlook “our guy’s” disappointing failures, but being willing to jump all over the other guy. As long as we pay attention only to political party, and not to each representative’s value, we won’t get past this, and we will continue to vote the very bums who got us here back into office.

It’s time to step away from party dogma, especially because many people do exactly the opposite of what they say. And we’re too busy hurling insults at each other to pay attention….which is more important?

“Why are some people so obsessed with Bush? That was years & years ago.”“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” – George Santayana.I dread to think what another 8 years of Bush would do to this country. THAT is why we need to remember it. Is that why you want us to forget it?

Agreed, although I don’t see how pointing out that it was Bush’s man in charge is a “change of subject”, as opposed to avoiding forgetting history. Nevertheless, I’m glad to see you aren’t so shortsighted as Corayan. At least, I’m assuming you weren’t trying to suggest that the “scandals” you listed rank up with Bush’s unnecessary wars, or his destruction of our economy, environment, science research, infrastructure, etc.?
