The message of the cartoon should not be that we should go back to sleep, but that more of us should wake up and demand legislators do their jobs of oversight with the same diligence with which they solicit campaign funds. Everyone of the agencies involved in our security is under Congressional and Senatorial oversight. Something those bodies frequently “over look”Respectfully,C.
Perhaps Nurse Betty is kind-hearted, and does not want to inform the patient of the truth that US agencies are still the same, no reform, no progress in sharing intel to make life safer for Americans….because the shock might put him back into the coma.
I read Billy Mitchell’s bio after seeing the old movie about the trial. Another attempt to confuse policy with facts and evidence. Good thing it didn’t work, huh? I think Richard Clark’s book reflects my own opinion closest, Against All Enemies. Everybody makes mistakes. Its how you learn from them that shows character. Great Movie.^@ SkepticCal – “Progressives see the intelligence agencies a hindrances to the goal of internationalism”How many of the conservatives in this forum have written on multiple occasions about how the 2nd Amendment is needed to protect Americans from its gov’t?^So liberals don’t trust the intelligence agencies that are going to take the guns away from conservatives? the few who actually worry about it that is.^@ disgustedtaxpayer – Always good to find a chance to agree with you. There has been some improvement in how covert ops function, but fighting for funding often creates a competitiveness that sets up situations like the ones you describe. Hopefully, lessons will be learned and better protocols implemented.Respectfully,C.
