Had we elected McCain in 2000, we wouldn’t have been in Iraq in the first place. He’s from a military family, not an oil family, so he would have focused on the capture of Bin Laden instead of worrying about Saddam. Had he been elected in 2008, however, he had already stated he had no problem with troops remaining in Iraq and Afghanistan indefinitely. By that time the RNC had cowed him into line and offered him up as the sacrificial lamb in an election they knew he couldn’t win. I have no doubt he would have beaten Al Gore in 2000 – at the time he was the better choice over both of the running candidates.
Next year there will be another Syria somewhere. And then another. And then another. And in America we will always have our chickenhawks, calling on other peoples’ children to go fight the Syria of the day.
To ANYONE who thinks we should be fighting Syria, go to your military recruiter TODAY and become part of the very solution YOU propose.
Obama wasn’t in the Senate until 2005. Saddam was no longer in power then. How could he have voted against action at least 2 years before he was sworn in?
Hard to keep up with McCain (and the Republicans in general). He was saying Obama should have provided military support two years ago. Now he is saying Obama is not leading, but military action may not be the right thing at this time, illustrating once again impeccable judgement and foresight. Now he is blathering about helping “the right people at the right time.” What a confused old fool!
I saw the reference to the use of saran gas. But military action is your translation, not Obama’s. Too many see this in black and white and it is far from that.

You’re right, it always does seem to be someone else’s fault.

Translation: You don’t like Obama so you will criticize everything he does. Your question was so broad and general as to be meaningless.
