    Do you realise that the client had had to listen to 56 minutes of mind numbing cooing voice telling him how important he is and could he type the right department number and then type his number again… and again…

    Yup, that’s the first problem with calling service reps, techs, etc. Each needs to understand what the other has just endured before they were connected, then take a breath to collect their sanity. It might prevent some of the ‘flying off the handles’ and ‘chewing off of each others’ heads.’

    I always did wonder why they make you key it in to the machine, then tell the live person once you finally get to oneI think maybe telephones erase memories. Coz I would call somebody, get their secretary, who’d ask me who I was and I’d tell them, then when the person I was calling got on the line, they’d ask me who I was again.So I’m like, “DIDN’T YER FRIKKIN SECRETARY TELL YOU??”
