It is higher if you count those who are unemployed more than 99 weeks.

People have lost the skill of listening, because they are too busy talking.

Thanks to the leadership of Comrade Obozo, how good sky-high unemployment rates seem!

Actually, I was supplementing your comment, not digging you.And the solutions are not pleasant (now), but they are there. Eliminate the PPACA, strike down the NLRB rulings from the past year (since they were appointed illegally), roll back the Frank-Dodd (or Dodd-Frank, whichever), lower the corporate tax rate, eliminate capital gains, eliminate loopholes (i.e. simplify the tax code), lower or eliminate repatriation taxes, eliminate the “death tax” (can’t think of its official name right now), Eliminate QE375, create an environment that encourages loans to startup businesses, approve the Keystone pipeline, and more. The problem isn’t that companies don’t have the resources to hire people. It’s that they still don’t know what the PPACA is going to cost them. Banks are being held to the fire with Frank-Dodd, and they are required to have a higher capitalization rate so they don’t make new loans to businesses. Quantitative Easing is artificially pumping up the stock market; as soon as QE stops, the market is going to tank, because main street isn’t really doing that well. Lowering the corporate tax rate makes it cheaper to operate a business, thus encouraging more business development. Simplifying the tax code makes it easier for small businesses to start and stay above water. New loans to small business startups is important, and people can’t find these loans for spit now. The NLRB’s rulings (like the one trying to open a plant in SC iirc) are predatory to businesses and job growth. The list goes on. But something tells me people’s unemployment is being used as a weapon. Look at NAZI Germany. Adolf Hitler pandered to the masses, blaming their destitute and downtrodden status on someone else. Instead of fixing the problem, he rallied them to go to war. While not directly parallel, Obama is pandering to his masses, blaming the Republicans for their current unemployment status, instead of finding a solution. He’s trying to garner votes, because he can say, “Look! They are living high off the hog, and here you are living in squalor. They do nothing while you suffer!” What’s not being said is that the Republican-Controlled House has passed many bills, only to not even have them voted on in the Senate. Why? Because that would put Democratic senators on the hook for their voting record. This unemployment rate is nothing but a weapon being used. If we had a Washington that cared, this situation would already have been resolved.
