This does not really apply to today’s strip, but listening to sportscaster and Yale graduate Ron Darling mangle the English language last night on TV during a baseball game, saying things like the batter SWANG at the last pitch, reminded me of something Capp always had Abner say.
We were always taught that one should never say irregardless, that regardless was the proper term. But just to be certain we knew how uneducated Abner was, Capp skipped past irregardless and always had Abner use the term Disregardless, which is really way out there.
