Sad, but true. As soon as the farmer passes, the heirs sell off the farm and a new subdivision is born.

Did Sluggo move? The last time we saw the outside it was a single story.

Not if some preservationists deem it “historical” for some reason.

Guy, thank you for this story. I can’t wait to see how it pans out.

I never thought he’d have a two story….seems like years ago it was more or less a storage room. I hope his lean to doesn’t lean fro…

Yesterday someone said Fritzi was Jewish, and that Ritz was a Jewish name. Well Ritz is not, but I would be happy to know that she was a landsman, she is certainly a sheyne meydel. And as wishes were extended for a happy Passover (thank you), let me share my favorite Passover story. The late comedian Jan Murray, born Murray Janofsky, would have a Passover Seder (traditional meal) every year at his home and invite his show business friends, Jewish and gentile (Jackie Gleason was a regular) alike.

Jan’s second wife was not Jewish but had learned how to prepare the Passover meal. One year Jan’s mother-in-law was visiting from Mississippi, coincidentally at Passover. A wonderful cook, the woman offered to help with the preparation of the Seder meal. She had a wonderful time cooking, but just an hour or so before the Seder she came to her daughter very upset.

When Jan’s wife asked what was the matter, the mother-in-law said that she had overlooked going shopping, assuming all of the ingredients needed would be in the house, and felt guilty because there were no rolls to serve with the Passover meal. She then said, “How are we going to tell Jan and his guests about this. Everyone will be so disappointed.”

For those who may not know, the eating of all bread products is forbidden during the 8 days of Passover. For an explanation watch The Ten Commandments this Saturday on ABC.

I’ve said it before. This is why I like Sluggo. He may be poor but he’s proud and grateful for everything in his life. Wouldn’t it be great if everyone were as positive and joyful as Sluggo?
