“Oh I get it, it WAS the president who ordered the torture, but it’s NOT the president who orders prosecutions.”
Actually, yes. The President is responsible for policy. The justice department is responsible for prosecuting those that break the law. It’s not that hard.
“Come on guys, face it, this “nuanced” approach is tantamount to “the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing.””
Actually, it isn’t.
“He’d better fix it! Maybe spend less time playing golf and taking victory laps around the country and the world!”
Unlike Bush, Obama can walk and chew gum at the same time. I want the investigation to go wherever it may lead.
It all doesn’t have to be done tomorrow- let Congress investigate, the Justice Dept can also with as little fan fare as possible get a special prosecutor lined up. The idea is to do it but don’t let the economy and health care reform get side tracked. Cheney and his minions aren’t going anywhere soon- they could be prosecuted, after all.

It’s not Obama’s job to prosecute anyone. That’s up to the justice department.

Yep, Dan. At the same time, as with North, Weinberger, et al, we still have plenty of Reagan-Bush judges willing to overturn any convictions.

Investigate first, determine from the outcome whether prosecutions are warranted and for whom. End of story.
Next!

“The if the president tells the Attorney General to go after whom ever, the AG’s office goes after them.”
So, how would an AG investigate a president?
“Meanwhile, do we really want the FBI investigating the CIA?”
So, how does one investigate the CIA?
