There is a conspiracy to take over the world. The main problem is the citizens that are armed. For the enemy to defeat us, he must first disarm us. Fools like Drew Sheneman are helping the enemy to defeat us.
Now all we need is a crystal ball that can determine which gun buyers are going to have mental problems. In the meantime, let’s sell them some assault weapons.
From the New York Times Editorial page today:“In the 1990s, a team headed by Arthur Kellermann of Emory University looked at all injuries involving guns kept in the home in Memphis, Seattle and Galveston, Tex. They found that these weapons were fired far more often in accidents, criminal assaults, homicides or suicide attempts than in self-defense. For every instance in which a gun in the home was shot in self-defense, there were seven criminal assaults or homicides, four accidental shootings, and 11 attempted or successful suicides.”
I wonder if they think the predictive powers are a sure thing up until the first professional says “In my opinion you can’t be trusted with a gun” then the complaining begins. For me its the odd part about gun rights folks saying there needs to be more mental health screening. Both my parents have multiple advanced psych degrees and they see flaws in everyone. There is no question in my mind that Mr Ima would be treated better by Dtroutma.

The NRA (like the tea party) is in the midst of a self-defeating and possibly suicidal political campaign. As a rational person, I’m okay with that.

If a drunk driver kills somebody, is it the car’s fault or the booze’s fault?
