This is no longer a comic. This guy is voicing a religious/political diatribe against human marriage equality by saying that granting all humans the freedom and right to marry, then what’s to keep us from marrying animals? I doubt he is portaying hillbillies as abject fools. Only L’l Abner can do that masterfully and be funny without offending. I hope I’m wrong about this strip and we hear an explanation from Mr. Scancarelli.
I’m really surprised at Jim Scancarelli for publishing this story line. If this is political commentary, it doesn’t belong here, if it isn’t then it is just plain stupid. I really expect better from Gasoline Alley.
I had the pleasure of looking at some strips from 30 years ago when Dick Moores was writing and drawing. The stories were more grounded in reality. Honestly, I’m beginning to wonder why I follow this.
