Cathy: I'd love to exercise, but I don't have time! Irving: You don't have 30 minutes a day?? Cathy: No! I don't have 30 minutes! Irving: 15 minutes? You don't have 15 minutes?? Cathy: No! I don't have 15 minutes! Irving: 5 minutes?? You couldn't walk for 5 minutes?? Cathy: No! Because as soon as I walk 5 minutes, you'll say I could walk 7 minutes... then 9... then 13... and then... then... Irving: Then what? Cathy: Then I would have to admit you're right and hear about it for the next 50 years and I do NOT HAVE TIME FOR THAT!! Irving: I give up. Cathy: At least I've learned how to budget myself.

I’d feel sorry for you, Irving, but when you married someone as neurotic as Cathy, what did you expect? That her neurosis would somehow cure itself and go away on its own without serious medical intervention of some sort? If so, then you’re an even bigger dum-dum than I originally thought! :-/

lightenup: Same thing with me regarding driving classes when I was in high school. Things didn’t start coming together and make any real sense until I finally got in the car and began doing actual driving. Once I did, then everything they were trying to teach us in the classroom finally began to click in my head. Hopefully Jr. liked and understood things better than she told you and everything will go well when it comes time for her to get her license. (B/t/w: I have no idea how many feet I’m supposed to stay behind an emergency vehicle either. I’m like you: I just give them room and let them have the space to do whatever it is they gotta do. Good thing license renewals at my age don’t require a written exam (even when I moved to a different state); otherwise, with my increasingly bad memory these days, they’d probably take my license away from me permanently!) ;-)
