Don’t worry, Cathy and Irving, I’ve been rejected many times also. I’m a member of the “Loser Club” also, but I’m okay with it most of the time..Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday!

Really glad I do not plan to be looking at real estate again. We bought this house last year more for its location and size than anything else. Could use one more bedroom but not really necessary since the office space was big enough for my desk, computers and my library. Planning for my next move to be into a small marble box – but not for another few decades at least. Hate moving.

I’ll have to deal with this nightmare myself soon. Hopefully we won’t have as much trouble as Cathy & Irving or GretchensMom but we do need at least three bedrooms with a den and/or finished basement and two baths. A patio would be nice.

    I’m in trouble aren’t I? :-)

Unfortunately, we seem to be going through this exact same thing right now. More than once we’ve seen a house online that has come fairly close to what we need regarding us AND my mother at the exact same time (a real rarity!) so we called the listing agent about it, only to find out that it was already under contract even though they were still listing it as being available to buy.

I don’t know why these real estate companies persist in doing this because it’s very deceitful, to say the least. When a house they’ve got listed sells, then they should immediately remove the listing from their website so people like us won’t be fooled into thinking it’s for sale when it really isn’t. If something happens and the con-tract falls through, then just put the house back up for sale on the website again. Duh! How hard can something like that really be? It’s very frustrating to come across a house that makes us half-way excited and has us thinking: “At last! After over a year of house-hunting, this may finally be ‘the one’!” . . . only to have some underhanded agent and the real estate company they work for yank the carpet right out from underneath us due to some “bait and switch” scam they’ve got running. Our answer to them is al-ways: “NO. We’re only interested in this one. If we wanted to look at something else you’ve got listed, then that’s what we would have called about to begin with!” How nice it would be if only we could find the perfect house that’s for sale by owner so that we could cut out the need for scuzzy real estate agents completely!

P.S.: Sorry for all the venting. It’s been a tough couple of weeks where it seems like it’s just been one thing after another for me! :-(

Sometimes you just have to let fate take its course. When I first moved to California and was looking for an apartment, all the ones I called at lunchtime to arrange to see were taken by the time I got off work at five. Finally I was so annoyed I looked at “furnished houses for rent” and ended up renting a furnished one-bedroom duplex right on the beach from an eccentric old guy — for $150/mo! Perfect for a young guy just starting out.
