Wow, do you know all of these people, Cathy, or are they just random, nosy strangers who suddenly thought you needed to know all about their weddings? What a bizarre world Cathy lives in…

Hello Cathy friends!! Happy Thursday! As usual, wonderful GretchensMom remembered, but I’d also like to say,

    Happy Birthday, Anona Mouse!!!

Craziness! I have always wanted to get married in my honeymoon destination with only the closest family and friends and come back for the reception. Of course, I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings but i don’t really want a big wedding since we already have children and have lived together before.

Happy Thursday Cathy friends and Happy Birthday, Anona Mouse!

Poor Cathy . . . it isn’t just the lady herself and her Mom who are a bit crazy at times!

Whereas of course Cathy’s friends on the other side of the monitor are all lovely, generous people . . . Thank you all for the unexpected birthday greetings! I feel quite special, thanks to you.

Back when my husband and I were planning our wedding, we “shopped around” for every service we needed except one — the photographer. We decided to go with an “unvetted” guy that the daughter of a friend of ours used because she just raved about how great he was. Ha! She may have thought he was wonderful but for our wedding? Not so much! He showed up late . . . he didn’t get my mother-in-law being escorted down the aisle . . . or my mother . . . or my grandmother . . . !!! We didn’t realize how many moments he hadn’t captured that day for posterity until we took a look at the proofs when they came in and saw what all was missing that should have been there but wasn’t. To say we were unhappy at that turn of events was a complete understatement. Even now, it still makes me sad to think about it — especially since both my grandmother and m-i-l are gone and my own mother will be 79 this coming August.

So the moral of the story is: Get ideas, advice and recommen-dations from other people if you want to (or even if you don’t want to!), but you still need to do all the research yourself because what works for one person won’t necessarily work for someone else . . . and your wedding is definitely one of the most important days of your life where you need to be especially sure that the person/people you choose for the part they’ll be playing in your special day is the right fit for you.

    Hi, rgcviper!

Anona Mouse: Glad to hear you still had a nice birthday yesterday even though someone who shouldn’t have forgotten did. Well, if he hasn’t done it already, then maybe he’ll go above and beyond this year in order to make it up to you!!!!! ;-)

Hello and Happy Thursday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyone had a really nice day today! :-)

Well . . . He-Who-Should-Have-Remembered did bring me a HUGE bar of chocolate today! So perhaps I’ll forgive him.

To be fair, he has never been able to remember dates – he usually buys me a present before the time, just to be on the safe side.

In fact he has arranged a present which is in production as we speak, but he normally gives me a card on the day, and that didn’t happen. Unless of course he’s going to give me one next week!

It’s very nice to be sent so many kind good wishes on the Net, though! Thank you again, everyone.

I can sympathise with He-Who-Should-Have-Remembered. Did that once. I know the date of my wife’s birthday and have never forgotten it. I just did not know where in the calendar for June we were. I thought June had just started – not getting near the end. To prove this, I was wished a Happy Birthday by a friend once. I did not know that that day was my birthday.

Well, I suppose this one’s thoughtful in a manner of speaking.

But, what the hey—I’ll still give it an [eye-roll] for good measure.

HI, MOM. Happy Belated Birthday, Anona Mouse. Greetings, “Cathy” Clan.

Yes, that’s what happened, hendelca. He works with frail elderly people, and things have been rather hectic lately – he doesn’t get a lot of spare time for checking the calendar! Like you, he just didn’t know where we were in the month.

And I didn’t really mind. I thought it was quite funny, to be honest!

As for wedding photographers . . . well, we didn’t have a professional. Our mothers each had a camera with them and took a whole film each, I think. (In those days you couldn’t take hundreds, the way they do nowadays, because each photo had to be developed, printed and paid for before you could see the results.)

Afterwards they sent their films away to be processed – using the same laboratory, but sent separately – and would you believe it? The lab somehow managed to spoil both films!

So although we still have the prints, they were reprinted in black-and-white later to hide the strong blue cast that one film had, and edited to remove the worst of the scratches on the other.

So, Cathy and Irving – do have some extras taken, just in case!

P.S. Thanks, rgcviper! I think we were both typing at the same time.
