I hope people will still read. I prefer it because I can visualize the characters myself.

I was an avid reader many year ago — until my eyesight began to deteriorate. I wouldn’t be able to read this comic or read your comments without mylaptop.

I still read books and use our library all the time. But if I ever get an e-reader I will use it as well. Our library has e-books available.

Last week I was studying at our public library. The kids started coming for programs just like Ellie is talking about. It got so loud it forced me to leave.

Lots of people work for libraries who are not accredited librarians…in fact most aren’t.

20 years ago I would read several books a week, now not so much- more into magazines and online news, etc. My hubby does still read many books, plus he has an ereader. My kids a few books a month.

I think many libraries have these programs to encourage people, especially children, to see the libraries as normal, fun places which welcome everyone, rather than silent sanctums for swots. The idea is that they will thus be encouraged to pick up books and read. I don’t know if it works.

I thought this strip was a re-do of the original concept starting all over again as if it was being written for the first time, and in this time period. Not really a re-run.

I loved reading books. When I was a kid, I’d get 10 books during the summer from the library and by the end of the week, was bringing them back and getting 10 more. Read way above my level, too. As an adult was reading a lot of paper-backs. Then I got a detaching retina followed by surgery and finding out that my cornea is misshapen when they were putting in the implant. Now I can’t read books, much to my dismay. Hate it!

I still have VCRs. I don’t have money for other.

I use library to check out books and movies. It’s too expensive to go to movies and you can check them out free

I was in a Books-A-Million store perusing their wonderful selection of books just yesterday! Reading is one of my absolute favorite hobbies — when I can find the time, that is!

Sad, but so true. Our library is increasing on the DVDs and CDs…and computer usage. I tried [in vain], to donate a couple bags of brand new looking books, all over 5 years old, buy looking like brand spanking new. The librarian said they don’t take ANY books unless they are 5 years old or newer! And every book that gets worn out, stolen or is missing, never gets replaced. I complained, wrote letters, etc., nothing helped. Sad…very sad.
