Yup. The psychology of the Republican party is fascinating. Do they really think that this is going to turn out well for them in the end? They seem to have an unshakable faith that they can create a particular reality via words and belief completely independent of any external conditions. Results from the most recent election be damned.Oh well, delusional people always get their comeuppance once their beliefs are too far out of sync with reality. If only the rest of us could be spared the collective pain their delusions will engender.
At this point, Obama has won the tax issue. His strategy has shifted now to one of publicity—showing voters and the media how the GOP only has one issue left: defending to their party’s death the right of the rich to not pay more taxes ever.
guess you don’t realize that the tax cuts for “the rich” include most middle class wage earners. Folks, we’re in the toilet and rapidly circling the drain.
Does a lameduck have the strength to do that kind of twisting? Especially when I’ve never seen a more idea-deprived administration in my life… What did he run for again?
^No political party in history has deliberately damaged the economy in order to defeat a president.-Getting elected is only part of politicians’ jobs. It does not give them permission to allow the end to justify the means.
Not sure I understand your disagreement with Mike. You said you disagree that both sides have gone back to their line in the sand mentality and then acknowledge Obama has always made it clear how he feels about letting the cuts expire. You pretty much described a perfect line in the sand scenario from both parties. This country and government is very dangerously divided right now and Mike is right, both sides have drawn lines in the sand and have their collected heads up their arses. Unless Obama can ditch his ego and take a note out of Clintons book we’re going to get nowhere fast and the next four will be just as bad as the first.
Keep believing the garbage fed to you by the media. That’s just as bad as believing everything on FOX news. I said it four years ago and it held true. Aside from the fact that no, people are NOT better off now then when Bush left office, Obama did nothing but hinder our economies recovery. Unemployment should have never gotten as low as it did and all his shovel ready and other ignorant strategies did nothing to help it. He had no mind for business or economy and to this day still refuses to put his ego in check and listen to others. Believe what you will, but pretty much anyone else in office, Hillary included, would have resulted in a much better last four years and faster recovery.

The Republicans have assembled a coalition where, if they actually govern, they get voted out of office. It’s not very sustainable.
