Hey man, my TV might weigh a lot, but it is a 47" picture tube!!! With those bloody flatscreens it just looks like one long THIN, and I do mean THIN, line. It looks more lifelike!!!

yeh, looks like VHS tapes on that console TV…..the only thing missing is the aluminum foil-wrapped rabbit ears for that crystal clear reception

Our TV is a 36" monstrous 217 lbs. It was left to us by my daughter and her husband when they moved. They had to throw out the table it was sitting on as it was bent in the middlefrom the weight. We have it on dresser in the livingroom and I want to rearrange the livingroom so the morning sun isn’t shining on the screen. Hubby is bulking at the idea of moving it. I’m trying to get my son to help. Might be a while before it gets moved. I was hoping before Christmas so I could put up the tree, but I guess we’ll be treeless again this year.

My computer desk is bowed in the middle from years of straining under a 21" CRT monitor. Same problem.

I figure they are heavy because they came with speakers.

Nope, got rid of mine last year. ;-)Although in all fairness, the big screens weighed a lot more than that even just 5-10 years ago so that’s not the fairest gag.

While my 76-year-old mother refuses to give up her old, approximately 50-lb. television (Why? “Because it still works!” she says) . . . her oldest sister, who’s 83 years old, has a flat panel t.v. that’s nicer, newer and bigger than the one my husband and I have!!!!!

Like older televisions, a lot of high definition televisions over 50 inches weigh over 100 pounds, and the picture is awesome. My 42-inch LG is well over 50 pounds and has excellent sound as well.
