    Yes, GEE1A: there is a correct side (to listen) and a wrong side (where you might hear something like the modem/fax squeal–note I haven’t actually tried)

    Records also have two sides, and to an oldster, a CD might look like a small record.

    Some DVD’s have stuff on both sides.

    One side is for CD and second side is for DVD. Read the label and figure out what it should be for.

    they do look a bit like a mini records to us OLDSTERS but i have never tried to play both sides

    I have a DVD/CD of Blair Witch 2. Movie on one side and soundtrack on the other.

    If there are really two sides, neither of which has a label, then whether the sides are CD or DVD is entirely up to the manufacturer. Almost all CDs that are sold as CDs are single-sided, however. You can tell instantly if there’s a label - if there’s a label, it can’t be two-sided.

    There was a three-sided Monty Python record, as I recall. One physical side had two logical “sides”. Can’t do that with a CD, though.

    farren- And they both were labeled “Side B”. I vaguely remember replaying the then unknown double sided track for the third time (it was real short) & getting the alternate track- outrageously funny!
