I went to the page referenced earlier and read:
“Tomorrow I’ll be at the table when company comes. Nobody’ll dare say to me, ‘Eat in the kitchen,’ Then, besides, They’ll see how beautiful I am and be ashamed — I, too, am America.”
The first thing that came to my mind, was ” He must have turned 18 since last time…. Now he gets to sit at the adult table… I ate in the kitchen until I was 20…..”
I guess I don’t have an automatic racism sensitivity button like I’m supposed to.
He stole my cigars, It sounds as if you are making reference to a page on my website. If you are, the referenced comment reflects how far we have come since the days of slavery, but sardonically things and people keep popping up to remind us we have not come far at all.
