We were debating this last night and we came to the same conclusion. We’ve left the noughties into the tens(some liked teners better) but we’re still in the same decade.

Midnight is over at 12:01. Likewise I think 2009 was over at 1/2/2009. But no one thinks that way so “2010” has started today.

No, wait-a-minit. 9years + the “0” year make a decade; so the new decade has started today. No matter what Walter Williams says.

    Dr.Canuck, I ’ l l g o r e a l s l o w f o r y o u … 2000 is the “0” year and counts as one whole year; now add 1 to arrive at 2001; and again for eight more times and you arrive at 2010 and have collected 10 (TEN) individual years: thus completing one decade on 1/1/2010. ;^)

puppy - the decade doesn’t end until 12/31/2010. That completes ten years since 1/1/2000.

No, BCS that would make a decade equivalent to 11 years. Thank you for not insulting me .Bye.

Remember, there was no year zero. When Jesus was born, nobody said “Okay, this will be our year zero”. Some monk said that centuries later. Zero didn’t even exist as a concept in the western world back then.
