Religion has nothing to do with the brain. I would rather say:“The Abuse of Rational thought” Then again, maybe that is what< Stavro is saying: Religion abuses rational thought.

IMHO, Bin Laden who tell muslims to kill christians in the name of Muhammad and Pat Robertson who says that America should take advantage of poor nations because they made a pact with the Devil have something in common; blasphemy. They both turn their own religion, something they should respect, to justify their own prejudices.

True, Michyle…. but that’s not how most people see their religion nowadays. Now they believe whatever their “priests” tell them, based on a book that is basically outdated. I know this because I used to be one of them…. until They (the “church”) stopped listening to me. I realized that unless I got married, I would never be listened to or thought of as a part of that organization. That was when I started studying other Religions to see which one I would fit into…. and I found that to be Wicca..I can honestly say that I am happier as being basically Wiccan than I ever was as a Christian, and it hasn’t been boring since Sekhmet almost literally Pounced me. She’s a hard taskmaster, but She also knows that each of Her Cubs are individuals….

Right, you’re agnostic not because of rational thought but because organised religions are bloody. Have you tried shopping where Ketira shops? She might have a coupon or two as well.

…right, back from reading from some history. Wow, Papal decrees, Portuguese & Spanish inquisitions of Jews & Muslims; but not only within the Iberian peninsula but extended out to their colonies: genocidal extermination of native populations of the Americas; who knew there were inquisitions in the Americas; enslavement of vast numbers of Africans…I’m impressed. Tens of millions of deaths. ’Fraid Catholicism is leading at the moment.[But didya notice how Orthodox Catholic didn’t say the Catholic Church shouldn’t be in the competition? S/he said (and admits): “The Catholic Church doesn’t even come close.”Thus is a worthy competitor: it has a bloody history. ]

“What did someone in the Church do to you that offended you so deeply that you took your eyes off Christ Who died in love for you and went away? How sad!”I know! I think Wicca cleverly left a few pretty runes at that supermarket check-out which tempted Ketira away. Very sad indeed. :-( )

I think you’re right! I hadn’t noticed IrishEddie was quiet since I usually skip over his drivel. Ah well, another persona to skip over.
