Mom: Why won't the ref stop the game? Other parents: She won't unless there's lightning. This is ridiculous! The poor girls are getting drenched. I may just go pull my daughter out! The poor poor dears. Players: Hah hah! This is so cool!
What a wonderful feeling / I’m happy again…
Definitely my girl’s team! The Desert Dolphins!
I bet Edith isn’t having fun.
As a parent to a soccer player, and a husband to a soccer player – who made it a point to be supportive and go to games … I remember being cold and alone standing under a little umbrella cheering on women having a raucous time skidding around on muddy fields. I even got an award one year!
But how can they find the ball, much less see whether it went into a goal?
I refereed soccer for 20+ years. The games the kids enjoyed the most were where there was lots of mud involved.
“If we were boys you wouldn’t be worried about us. Stop yer fussing and let us have fun!”
Used to love playing club ball in the summer rain/mud, way better than HS when it was a winter sport in the ice and snow
