While I understand the outpouring of affection and tradition by those in the United Kingdom for their queen and her 70 years on the throne, I am puzzled as to why there is so much fascination with the royal family in this country.
We literally had a war of revolution to reject the whole concept of rule by hereditary monarchy.
Hereditary monarchy is, by its very nature and design, the antithesis of the concept of America in which freedom of opportunity to achieve is based on merit, not an accident of birth.
I have no more interest in the royal family than in any other celebrity drama, whether it is Kardashians, Honey Boo-boo, Real Housewives of wherever or anything else. I am interested in issues such as the epidemic of genocidal gun carnage, the assault on women’s rights to control their own bodies and life plans, the class warfare against working people, sacrificing our brave heroes on the blood-spattered altar of greedy “defense contractor” profits, the catastrophic climate emergency, high gas and utility prices (that could be cured by plugging electric cars into solar panels) and other high consumer prices resulting from corporate price gouging and PROFITEERING DURING NATIONAL EMERGENCIES as ginormous corporations rake in massive profits far disproportionate, by orders of magnitude, to actual inflation rates.
