Trump really doesn’t understand how this undermines the relationship between the US and the host country we’re deployed in. Under SOFA agreements, the US tries their soldiers for various infractions agreed to. If the host country doesn’t feel the US will honestly adhere to this, they may insist that such cases be tried in the host country’s courts instead of relying on the UCMJ and military courts.
Fun fact: After Bush negotiated the withdrawal from Iraq, there was an attempt to negotiate a SOFA agreement, but the Iraqi government insisted that US service members be tried in Iraqi courts if an Iraqi citizen were killed (regardless of circumstance). It was the inability to negotiate a SOFA with legal jurisdiction for such actions that resulted in the US finally pulling out of Iraq under Obama. When Iraq requested the US troops return in a limited capacity, a proper SOFA agreement was signed.
Every time he dishonors the US military by doing things like using the troops for his border “crisis” stunt, abandoning our allies and undermining the chain of command, It is a true test for the chosen one’s disciples.
Most of his followers seem to be able to ignore most of his many crimes; the fraud, the sexual assault, the cheating and payoffs, etc.
But for Republican hawks it must truly be walking through coals to watch how he treats the military.
I hope it erodes some of his support, but I’m not going to wait around expecting anyone to suddenly grow a conscience if they haven’t already done so by now.
His life is about negotiating himself out of trouble until the American banks had had enough and dumped him. He has not the least concept of responsibility or honesty or honor. His reasoning for pardoning the criminal behavior of those soldiers is so flawed that it threatens the very foundations of military command and morale. The resignations by the generals and admirals speaks volumes.

Trump Disciples all greatly admire Trump’s attack on the chain of command and military discipline.
Because it makes America stronger, right?

If a president pardons someone for violating the Geneva Convention rules, doesn’t that make that president a war criminal?

Trump is truly a coward, a conman, a fraud, a pathological liar, an egomaniac with the credibility of absolute zero.

With the Wiesel’s attitude of “WHO CARES” understanding falls far away on his empathy curve.
