Universal medicare? Universal public education through college? Regulate capitalism?
Redirect obscene insurance premiums that go into the pockets of insurance company and corporate medical provider CEO’s and investors (little for doctors and actual medicine) to actual medicine and it is actually less expensive. Every other country in the industrial civilized world provides universal medical care and they do it for far less money with far better outcomes. The idea that they are somehow more capable than Americans is offensive to this country.
Same with public education. When I went to college in the 1960’s, there was no tuition at my state university; today it is so expensive students graduating from my alma mater leave with massive student debt. This stifles future American productivity and innovation.
Regulate capitalism? Of course we must do this. Corporations hate regulatory oversight for exactly the same reason bank robbers hate cops on the street — exactly the same reason. Regulation no more impedes commerce than rules of the road prevent you from getting in your car and driving anywhere your heart desires, or rules of sports prevent an infinitely unlimited combination of strategies, plays and outcomes such that no two games of any sport have ever been exactly the same. Regulatory oversight does not impede, it enables and makes possible.
