The Western Ukraine is predominantly Catholic and they celebrate Christmas like Catholics elsewhere.
The Eastern Ukraine is predominately Orthodox. Christmas there is observed in a TOTALLY different manner. Typically it involves 3-4 hours standing in an unheated cathedral and maybe some icon kissing. You better eat your wheaties first. Oh yeah, it happens on January 7th this year.
