A 560 horsepower Porsche hybrid, good to 160 miles per hour, that gets over 60 miles per gallon overall average, IS expensive, but shows what is technically feasible, and can provide good performance in something less than a hand-built demonstration vehicle.
In my town, 4 X 4 crew cab pickups are the “norm”, because it’s a “ranching community”. Oddly, those vehicles carry loads, or more than the driver, less than 1% of the time they’re driven. These monster trucks block our “city” streets, because they park diagonally here.

I own vehicles that are both economical, and perform well in their respective functions, from sports car, to SUV, form CAN be functional!!
