If you had IVF but could not destroy embryos, you would have to force many women to undergo a surgical procedure that they don’t want.
Imagine you created 8 embryos, you went through two implantations. You have two children. But you’re not done. The government will force you to go through 2-6 more pregnancies (implantations can involve 1 or 2 embryos).
Imagine now your spouse dies. You still have to go through 2-6 more pregnancies you don’t want. Now imagine you die. SOMEBODY is going to have to incubate those embryos. Will people volunteer or will we force people to do it?
Now imagine one of those embryos has three copies of chromosome 21. Down’s Syndrome. Guess what, you’re getting a Down’s Syndrome baby.
