Big Nate by Lincoln Peirce for July 25, 1993
Nate: ...And now...striding majestically to the plate...number 8 in your program but number one in your heart...NATE WRIGHT! Dad: Yeaaaay! Come on, Nate! Get a hit! *CLAP CLAP CLAP* Dad: (thought) Oh no...here comes that blowhard Peterson...what a jerk. Peterson: Why, Wright...watching your kid, eh? Dad: Uh huh. Peterson: Well, good luck! My kid's pitching! Your kid doesn't stand a chance! **snicker** OOOh! Strike one! Your kid looked pretty weak on that pitch! Uh-oh! Strike two! Looks like a mismatch! CRACK! Nate: A home run! That was the greatest moment of my baseball career! Dad: Mine, too.
