Not sure I get this. Are they talking to each other? Or are they texting/messaging each other? My husband and I do that. Rather than shout from room to room and sometimes too lazy to get up from our respective computer hangouts (different places in the house), we do a lot of electronic messaging: “What time do you want lunch? Should we go OUT somewhere or eat at home? Can you come to the den and check something on the computer? It’s doing something weird right now”. --You get the idea. Also, by communicating this way, we don’t have to worry that Alexa is overhearing our conversation.

If a robotic device can hear and process your speech, what makes to think it can’t intercept your text messages? You’re both connected to the same Internet.
don’t over think it. He’s been watching the game while she’s been doing chores. She asks him to do one of the chores and he waits until after the game. Too late, she has already done it. So, he wants a snack. Guess he’ll have to do it himself.
