Parents had a “country place.” When they first built a dwelling there, we’d go visit during meteor showers – often we’d see several meteors every minute or even many more. We had a telescope out there to see the rings of Saturn. On clear nights the Milky Way was clearly obvious. Constellations were kinda hard to pick out because there were so many bright stars. When they passed away, none of us children wanted the property because “civilization” and “modernization” had surrounded the property and it was not peaceful or quiet anymore. On a clear night the even the Big Dipper was no longer easy to find – let alone even finding Saturn.
