I have two linden/basswood trees, which the city planted between the street and the sidewalk. Originally the trees had a pyramidal shape, but that went away as they matured and branched out. They are always dropping something – dead flower petals in the spring, fruit bracts in the summer, leaves in the fall, and small dead branches all year round. Add to that a constant mist of sap. The only redeeming feature of these lindens is the sweet aroma when they are flowering.
