    There is a class action lawsuit against ADT for trying to sell home security to people on the no-call list. I hope that puts a stop to some of my calls.

    @Lewis Linson

    I knew someone who used to work for ADT as a telemarketer. She said she was supposed to read the police log in the newspaper (for example, “a resident of the 700 block of Tremont Street reported a burglary”), then she would use the city directory to find the phone numbers of people on that block, then call them up, trying to sell them an alarm system (“Did you know one of your neighbors had their house broken into yesterday?”)

    A’int capitalism grand?

    What part of “No Call List” do they fail to understand?

    The “Do not call” doesn’t seem to be working very well. Not just the security co but many others are just not paying attention to it. Then when you try to talk to them about being on the list, they hang up on you! Something seriously has to be done.

    I have a similar situation when people call wanting to talk to my wife. I tell them it may be difficult since she died 17 years ago.

    Just as long as they don’t start calling me about burial plots..Do they know something I don’t know?

    My cell phone has call blocker. I now have over 100 numbers in the blocked calls list.

    I would give my new current address for them to make calls at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave Washington D.C. (wonder how many robocallers would re direct to there lol)

    Ask them, how’s your long distance plan?
    .
    Or say, really loud and desparate, “I’m so glad you called!” and start telling them all about your problems (real or imagined). Time them to see who has the most endurance before they hang up!
