   Actually, the USPO is losing so much money because they used to use a pay-as-you-go approach to funding retirement benefits, but in 2006 Congress required them to begin pre-funding retirement. It’s a colossal expense. Yes, the Post Office’s revenue is declining, but that has little or nothing to do with any inadequacies in their level of service – there’s simply no way that the USPO can have delivery speeds that come anywhere close to the virtually instantaneous delivery of e-mail and the internet. Regardless, the price the UPSO charges to schlep a physical object across the country is a great bargain.
