Portable energy is what technology runs on. Without this energy then the toon is true, technology would no longer be available on a widespread basis.

A lot can be said for a small population and limited technology. We as a culture will find out,
It is possible the answer will come is less than 100 years.

We have enough here in the USA for 100 years or more
Depending on what is economically feasible to extract. How much, per gallon, would need to be charged to extract, transport, and refine shale oil?
You could also say (technically correctly) that we have a practically infinite amount of water available to drought-stricken California, sitting right off the coast. Gee, maybe there’s a cost to processing it?

Supply and demand dictate price in “pure capitalism” right? What happens in the nearer future than 100 years out, when gasoline goes for $300 or even $1,000 a gallon? It’s time to conserve, and explore expanded use of alternatives, both fuels and what we USE them for!
