HOLY CRAP! It’s Sergio Aragones!
.
Known best for his “Drawn Out Dramas” in the white space of Mad Magazines.
.
Sir, if you see this, please know that you have brought too many hours of laughter to this fan of your magazine!
.
I know of a guy highly respected “Lifer” in the State Department (we wrote together on a forum or two) and he put it thusly, “I learned so much by watching Bugs Bunny cartoons; then I found Mad Magazine and my education truly started.”
.
I genuflect to one of the true all time Kings of the Comedic Arts, Sergio Aragones!

Nice way to give mom a heart attack. The little girl did tell the truth.

In her defense, to a child the incident is exactly as serious as the one mom visualized. Also, I second Reasons in being delighted to see the inimitable Sergio Aragones art again. From a life long fan (despite my mom’s urgent objections) Huzzah sir!

Sort of implies he is a regular contributor somewhere.

Implies?

Here’s how you read a Mad Magazine.
.
First you stand by the mailbox and curse “WT*^$%How hard is it for that usual gang of idiots to make one of these things per month!?”
.
When it finally does come (addressed to someone who doesn’t really live here!) you scan the cover to see what only might be actually in the magazine, then you flip it over and look at the inside of the back cover. Can you figure it out without bending the fold in?
.
Ok, skimming backwards you remember when there used to be the second parody in the back, usually a TV show.. Here’s some Dave Berg that keeps Dave spinning in his grave… Here’s about 50 cards in case you want to subscribe, even though you already DO! Oh look song parodies, they haven’t don e those in a while… The main parody of either a tv show OR a movie (lazy sobs)
.
Table of contents… then read all the picture based features front to back. back to the front cover, read the letters and see what kinds of clods actually read this magazine keep going through Fundalini etc and read all the word based articles (like Planet Tad).
.
Next time you’re in the bathroom, you pick up the magazine and you go through looking for all the “Easter egg” humor, the Tom Bunk details the pictures in the article titles, Peanuts characters showing up in Dick Debartolo splashes, Jack Davisness and most of all the Drawn out Dramas! (If, or rather since, I left anybody out, hey, I grew up rotting my brain with Mad Magazine! Go yell at the mirror!)
