Typical movie or TV scene though, middle of nowhere, no traffic,and the directors always insist on sirens. Of course, in most cities today, the siren doesn’t buy them anything because the cell phones or stereos are a lot louder.

Saw an interesting Military Channel item on JATO. The inventors (using a form of inert asphalt as fuel) called it JATO because everything at the time (1950s) was about Jets, and not rockets. Their devices are actually RATOs, but had to have the pizzazz name of JATO to get the military to buy it.
