There was one concept of government prior to the American Great Depression which was, “The purpose of government is to protect the opulent rich from the masses”.
Out of that Great Depression grew a new American concept/vision which encompassed the concept that if any Nation is to truly succeed as a democracy for all of its citizens then “The purpose of Government is to do the most it can for the most people with the money that it has.”
From the middle 1930’s through the late 60’s that vision created the greatest middle class and government ever seen and so recorded in Western Civilization history. Today that vision has all but been buried by the avarice of the rich and powerful and their ‘bought and paid for’ congressional lackeys.
Today philosophically, ethically, morally and economically our government is under the influence—if not the out and out control—of a juggernaut of corporations, banks, Wall Street, and the congressional lackey’s that push all of their agendas. Further, congress has declared war on the American middle and working classes, on women, children, the poor, minorities, the aged and the disabled. This is the current state of things in America and if this rich and powerful juggernaut is not brought under control and so regulated or disbanded by the citizens of America so as to return government to the American people, then we are either doomed to accept a life under despotic Government Corporatism…or we are destined to once again rise up in revolution.
