Something of a point there, and I’d say Putin is only doing it because he wants to score points off of America . . . . but then I remember certain adoptions of First Nations children by Americans in the 1960s. Not all, or even most, ended badly, but some of those adoptions were by child-molesting toads who wanted to indulge their sick desires in the comfort of their own home. So . . . the ban is still offensive, and a better solution would be thorough background checks, and Putin remains the dictator he has always been!

I know a girl that has been adopted from Russia. From the stories I have been told she is 100% better off here then the orphanage. And the reason I know of two over seas adoptions is the fact of how hard it is to adopt someone in America. So I am sad to here this. One of the reason might just be the Putain does not want any more stories of how his orphans are malnutrition and live in squalor.

Russia doesn’t want it’s people treated right, so now he is making sure these helpless orphans lives are miserable too. I guess.

Ghostkeeper: I’m familiar with the cultural destruction that occurred for the children “adopted” in this country, as well as sent to schools (mostly run by religious zealots) to destroy their language and culture..
While orphan status is terrible in much of the world, notably in several countries in eastern Europe, what cultural history will these American adopters grant these kids, and why CAN’T they adopt in the U.S.? Yes, I’m familiar with the “difficulties” associated with legal adoption in the U.S., but most of those rules are to protect the kids.
Which, if we care so much for orphans, why do we keep maintaining “foreign policy” that creates so many?

I usually appreciate your posts very much, but one point that I am confused by. And that is that these adoptions and orphans are from Russia. And to my knowledge the US has not specifically killed any Russians. Even during the duration of the Cold War very few Russians (or Americans for that matter) actually died.
We may even be creating such orphans in other places like the Middle East, but these adoptions being objected to by Mr. Putin are from Russia.
Could you please clarify this?

The fact that Russia ever let any child outside of their country for adoption is beyond my understanding of how much the Russians love their children in the first place…
The Russian need every child to maintain a proper population to prevent encroachment on their vast terriories in Asia and Europe…
But… My friend adopted two of the Luckiest children in the world… they will never want for love, food, education, medical care, or family… BTW, she not giving them back either…
It is this how Putin will save face and start to increase populaton after the split up of the USSR?

Let’s not forget the mother who wanted her money back when she adopted a Russian boy that turned out to have problems.
.
The mother came off at least as crazy as she portrayed the child to be.
.
Not to spam the issue but, to me the point is that we have so soured the international view of American with the “American Exceptualism” crowd excusing the actions of war criminals including Georges Bush (both of them) and the NRA and the congress of Congress (as opposed to progress) and TEA Party Racism (if you’re not, good for you, but the party is most definitely a racist organization)… The Russians have the moral highground here!
.
I know I’m ashamed. How about you?

robert: sorry if it was unclear. I know what happened to the tribal folks here in North America losing their kids to the “schools” that was first comment.
My second comment related to our making orphans in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places where we CHOSE to start wars against whole populations to “get” a few hundred “bad guys” (at most). I was NOT meaning to imply we were making orphans in Russia. People forget how many orphans we created in Nicaragua, and Panama, for that matter.

Blame the Tennessee Woman who sent a child back alone and unsupervised.

Russia should send its children to America where they can be gunned down in their classrooms, you say? I’d say Putin is PROTECTING Russian children.
They may be poor in Russia but at least they’d be alive.
Gresch said, 5 months ago
May be if some Canadian adopts them… then they could emmigrate like some Hockey teams have done in the past… The Nordiques became the Colorado Avalanche in 1995, while the Jets became the Phoenix Coyotes in 1996,

@Gresch
How in the HAIL do you connect Russian adoption issues with the NHL?
Is this some conservative thing?

@DrCanuck
That is because you never knew what the hockey puck you’re talking about…
