   Thanks.
   I tried to find out what happens to all of this food that is recalled.
   Ask dot com said it was put into pet foods, but I doubt that.
   Seems like poor people somewhere could use it.

   In South Africa they’ve found buffalo, goat & donkey meat in processed beef. But no horse.
   (Foreign media keep reporting water buffalo but we don’t have water buffalo, African buffalo, yes)

   
   Most people won’t mind eating these meats since the mislabelled meat is just that: mislabelled. Still quite safe to eat (unless, I know, phenylbutazone was given to the horses before and in large enough quantity)

   We have the same problem here. The meat is mixed so no way to trace where it came from. Use of mostly 19th century methods of observing meat still used. Quality is suspect here as well. Who knows how many are infected with prions.
