I’ve been in near every state and major city in the U.S. of A. and I’ve never had a problem breathing fresh air, seeing blue skies, and loving America. If you’re an American, leave. We don’t need self-loathers here. If you’re not, stay out. We don’t need you to come here and cause trouble.

China is reaching our bad times from the 19th century to the 1950’s only now.

Telling someone to leave makes you the bad actor here. What are you a hater of the Constitution?

Just adding an extra (nurf nurf) for the clueless who cannot see themselves.
Amazing what never looking in a mirror does.

When cities on the West Coast have to ask for air quality variances from the EPA because the air coming across the Pacific is so bad, there’s a world wide problem starting in China. Claiming the USA is “just as bad” simply isn’t true.
And that last should convince anyone. And, China now emits about 50% more CO2 than the US.

Seriously, I have to wonder at the sanity of the people who seem to think the atmosphere is just a garbage dump. There’s a big element of “wind takes it away, so it’s not my problem”. Is anyone crazy enough to really think we can keep this up forever? Already, mercury levels in freshwater fish in many states have become dangerous. Check (for example) the Arkansas DNR on fishing for details.

Really, do we have to continue this until we cannot eat a fish from anywhere? And remember that this same rain is falling on cropland.

We need to do two things, first, convert baseline power to nuclear. The great and enormous advantage of nuclear power is that you get the pollution in a lump that can be controlled, you aren’t spraying it all over the country and pretending “it’s not that bad”. I’m not going into a dissertation on fission power here, I’ll just state flatly that even if we had a Japan type incident every year, it would still represent less damage to the environment than generating the same quantity of power by burning coal. And, we need a real program to lead to fusion power. The program we have now is worse than a joke, it’s practically imaginary. Nuclear waste from fission needs to be reworked as it was always supposed to be (but isn’t anywhere outside France) which reduces the amount of waste by about 95% and puts the remainder back into the reactor as fuel. And the short term actinide waste (which poisons classic fission reactions, which is why those rods have to be removed when they’re only somewhat used) can be used in thorium reactors to undergo a fast burn process and turn the whole thing to lead.

Solar and wind are fine as add on power, but they are not continous, and can’t be, unless you propose something like solar power satellites or girdling the moon with solar panels. The quantity of engineering required to create massive storage systems to “go solar” is not small, google “TVA Raccoon Mountain” to see a big one. And those sites are not readily available. To generate the quantity of electricity used in the US with solar is not a problem, it would require about .2% of the US total surface area. Storing that power for use overnight and during storms is a big problem, and no city should ever accept less than a 3 day power reserve in such circumstances, and that’s probably less than they should.

Good grief, I’m talking too much and making sense. That’s nearly a hanging offense here. Both sides are going to be on my case.

I’m not a self loather(as you apparently must be). I AM embarrassed about the results of our last 30+ as the ‘Worlds police’. We have become what we hate.
