If the water hadn’t been so calm, they may have seen the iceberg sooner.
If they hadn’t turned, and hit head on, the ship may not have sunk, or sunk as fast. And stayed level, allowing use of all the lifeboats.

The S.S. California was a few miles away, but didn’t have their radio on, so didn’t come.
People in the water didn’t drown, they died due to the cold.
Sister ship Britannic hit a mine during WW I, sunk. 30 or so died.
Another sister ship, Olympic was eventually scrapped in the late 30s.
