It says the government asked her to pull it back not cut it. A newsreel in 1943 showed her wearing an upswept hairdo.
I had a high school biology teacher mention to the lab supply people where I volunteered, that I kind of looked like Veronica Lake, because my blonde hair, being parted on the left, hung over my right eye. Didn’t even know who she was until a couple of years ago when I was watching the TCM channel and “I Married A Witch” was playing. What basically ended her career was being put into bad movies by Paramount and Twentieth Century.
