Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

Republicans are cheering the action, but blaming Obama. Nothing changes.

I love today’s strip here. Cut baby cut. Ahab it was Obama’s idea and the Republicans have never washed their hands of the sequester. Give me one post that says they do. Congress voted on it, both in the House & the Senate then Obama signed off on the sequester.

Indeed not. They VOTED for it. They pleaded with Obama to institute it so that it would force spending cuts.
But now, of course, they’re against it.

Jeez, DrCanuck, you really need to research who initiated the sequester and who voted for it and against it.

Actually they’re for the sequester to force spending cuts Obama agreed to after Republicans increased taxes on the Rich.

It’s perfectly logical. You’re obviously missing the data flow here.
If the sequester was seen as successful, then they were for it, (or else) they were against it. Normal political logic to me…

I found a CBS affiliate that has a timeline: WOTC’s explanation of Sequester

Exactly. They are for it while screaming about how bad it is. As mike says, covering their silly little butts any way they can.

There are just a few richest people who control almost all of the money. These people are sociopaths who have no sense of right and wrong or even human decency.

Republicans wrote it (back in ’85 actually) and have been for it, before against it, because Obama said, “Okay, you wanted it, live with it.”

I suspect that deep down both parties are hopeful that the cuts will come. This way someone else has to make the hard choices of which of their programs get hit.
